2017 Honda Civic LX 2.0 from North America

Summary:

Not bad

Faults:

None so far.

General Comments:

Mostly fun to drive. Handles well. Adequate power. Noisy.

Base radio on the LX model is pretty weak.

Gas mileage doesn’t live up to expectations. Around 24 mpg around town, 34 on freeway.

Paint is weak, chips and scratches easily.

A/C had to be repaired under warranty.

Front bumper cover popping off on one corner.

OK car, but I feel like it is only adequate and coasting on Honda’s previous reputation.

Solid review.

Honda paint ain’t what it used to be.

2017 Honda Civic LX 1.5 turbo gasoline from North America

Faults:

Nothing went wrong with the car that wasn't caused by an outside force (being rear-ended in an accident). Otherwise, it was reliable and excellent.

General Comments:

The 2017 Civic hatchback LX was an amazing car for the money. Compared to others in the segment, the turbo engine mated to a CVT transmission provided a sublime driving experience. At any given speed, accelerating was quick, strong, and smooth. The handling was nimble and "sporty". Little features like "brake hold" made the car even more delightful to live with.

The only reason I traded the car in at 3 years is because I wanted extra features like Android Auto and adaptive cruise control. This car was the perfect mix of fun, comfortable, fuel efficient, and just generally excellent to live with. Don't let auto journalists tell you a CVT transmission is "bad" - they aren't impressed with any car that isn't a sports car.

These newer Civic are so plagued with problems, it's almost comical. Never in the history of the brand has a new generation this many problems. Good looking car with the quality of a Hyundai Pony from 20 years ago. Honda is certainly going downhill, despite the fancy looks. https://www.civicx.com/forum/forums/issues-repairs-warranty-tsb-recalls.42/

http://www.hondaproblems.com/oil-dilution/ (copy and paste) Honda has a recall and will adjust the fuel mixture, but at the base, the problem still remains.
