2004 Dodge SRT-4 2.4L turbo from North America

Summary:

A dream come true!

Faults:

Absolutely nothing. I owned the car and loved and cared for it for over three years. Due to our faltering economy I was forced to sell. Thank you George Bush (NOT!)

General Comments:

The SRT-4 is a great car. I regret the day I had to sell it, and hope some day to be able to track it down and buy it back for my own, like I did with a previous car, my 1985 Chrysler Laser turbo.

FAST does not begin to describe the performance of this vehicle. While my mileage did suffer a little when I'd have some fun the car, it still trounced any gas guzzling V-8 or rice burner.

I used it for several trips from Illinois to Canada. My highway mileage averaged 30.8 miles per gallon with the air conditioning going and two people in the car. Not too shabby, eh.

2005 Dodge SRT-4 2.4L turbo from Iran

Summary:

To good to be true...

Faults:

What's gone wrong with the car?

Except for oil changes and fuel the car has had nothing, and I tell you nothing wrong up until now.

General Comments:

Multiple times better than my previous car, a 19997 Toyota supra.

More reliable than I ever thought it would.

Awesomely quick, it goes 0 to 60 in just 5.9 seconds.

Handling, suspension, and power are all awesome.

Very, very well built, and over satisfied me in total.

2004 Dodge SRT-4 2.4 turbo from North America

Summary:

This car is a great buy, I absolutely love driving it

Faults:

Throttle position sensor went bad at about 15,000 miles.

Shift knob ripped off shifting from first to second the first time I ever raced it; it's a regular occurrence.

General Comments:

While not the fastest car, this car has a lot of bang for the buck.

Beautiful sounding exhaust.

Very fitting racing-style seats.

Tires are not nearly wide enough, the car lacks grip off the line.

Do not even attempt winter driving without a set of dedicated winter tires. With winter treads, I was surprised how well it took to the snow.

Comfortably seats 4, not 5. But 2 child car seats fit perfectly.

Rear windows are not power.

Sufficient trunk space.

Handles very well, even with the stock suspension.

Mopar upgrades and stage kits offer easy, well priced plug-and-play modifications for the car, avoiding the need to tune.

Very aggressive appearance.

Instrument cluster lacks some of the gauges that any performance car should have.

The oil filter can be a pain to get a filter wrench around.

On stock internals, this motor is capable of 350 to 400 horsepower with only a few thousand dollars in upgrades.

The car does attract some negative attention, simply because it is a Neon.

The PVC doesn't quite do its job. This can be remedied with an inexpensive oil catch can positioned in the line between the PVC valve and the intake manifold. This is a novice level modification. Dodgeforum.com has helped in this department.

2004 Dodge SRT-4 from North America

Summary:

The SRT-4 is fun to drive, economical, and capable of embarrassing much higher priced "sports cars"

Faults:

I had a problem with the sunroof gradually sticking. I took it to the dealership and the sunroof motor was replaced under warranty.

General Comments:

I get low 20-22mpg city, 28-30mpg on the freeway and run premium fuel.

Current modifications are the Mopar Stage 3 turbo kit with toys. 3" exhaust 60mm throttle body, adjustable coil-overs which makes the car handle excellent

It puts 360hp and 380lb/ft of torque to the wheels through a Limited slip differential. Runs consistent high 11's low 12's 1/4 mile times with slicks.

Viper side bolstered seats are snug and comfortable even on long trips

Brake stopping distances are excellent

2004 model comes standard with LSD and is currently the easiest to upgrade

Blue speedometer and boost gauges are a nice touch to the "underrated" interior

On long trips the upgraded exhaust and suspension is noisy and firm, a trade-off I caused by changing from stock
